Fishkite has learned two new words, and in the spirit of this thanksgiving holiday, I’m going to pass them along to you, my cherished reader: metrospiritual and freegan.
Now that your vocabulary has been thus enriched, your life will never be the same again. No thanks necessary.

I guess my “Powered By Jamba Juice” license plate frame dimes me out.
On “freegan”; Why is it that there is always the Fortune 500 suit-turned-slacker drop-out in these articles? You’d think that half of Wall Street left their jobs in disgust. Eat the leftovers if you want, but there is nothing wrong with paying for a product. It’s kind of how an economy works. Perhaps I have too much pride.

Now I know what to call those folks downtown who eat out of dumpsters. They are not bums or homeless, they are “freegan’s”.

I had a friend in grad school who started “Club Club”, which was a UIUC club dedicated to attending other clubs’ events, especially those with food. He often called the club’s philosophy “freegan” although I venture a guess that he wouldn’t share an ounce of the hippy crap those NYers were spewing. He just liked free food.
