Here are two voting guides for Christians, one from the right and one from the left.
Focus on the Family is handing out this brochure for the masses, and these sermon notes for church leaders, at its campaign website IVoteValues.org.
Sojourners is passing out this brochure for the masses, and these sermon notes for church leaders, at its campaign website RedLetterChristians.org.
UPDATE: I suppose since I’ve posted these I should also post AU Director Barry Lynn’s threat letter and anti-religious guide for religious leaders, paired with a link to ACLJ’s issues page.

So they all have faces? Or do they all just believe in having faces?

No matter who you vote for, we’ve been worshipping the devil for president in this country for years.

I’m… not even sure what that means.

FoF mentions “character” and “moral health”. But they don’t take a stand on “simply naughty emails“. I wonder what they would advise. Pro or con?
It;s important work being a Republican these days, fighting for faith and family values. We can’t let the little things like a gay Congressman writing naughty emails to nubile boys get in the way of the more important battles of good vs evil, can we?
In all seruiousness, though: I’m all for moral values. I respect people of faith — all faiths. But one of these days, the Christian people of faith are going to figure out that the Republicans have been cynically using them for years, to get and maintain their own political power. Just that simple. One of these days…

Thanks, Bob. Your respect for people of faith is apparent and overwhelming.

You’re right, Tom. I was overbroad. I have respect for honest, non-hypocritical people of faith. Or is it people of honest, non-hypocritical faith. (Thouigh I don’t always agree with their beliefs.)
Because that’s my point. I despise politicians who claim to be faith-and-values-drive, and push a faith-based “morals” agenda, all the while lying, cheating, stealing, and getting into little boys’ pants. I really don’t care what party they are in, but the Republicans seem to be at least as sinful as everyone else, despite their protestations.
So. When with peopeple of honest, non-hypocritical faith finally “get” that they are beuing used and abused by the Republicans who only want to use their voting strength enhance their own power and pocketbooks? And sex lives? Because that’s what’s really going on.
One of these days the Christian right will figure it out. Or maybe they already have.

Typo, SB: “So. When will people…”

Sorry, I know I am wearing out your software. But I forgot to mention another hypocrisy: Every time they get caught, they claim to be alcoholic and check themselves into a clinic. Every damn time. Talk about accountability.

Man, I can speak for Foley firsthand. Whenever I get drunk, I want to get into a 15 year old boys pants. Srsly.

I think the larger issue is this: what person with any morals at all who wishes to retain any kind of respect or honor would want to enter into politics in the first place.
We the people have helped make the political arena so filthy that only the filthy would enter in.

Barry Lynn is a hypocrite. In June, Lynn spoke out against the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education because it received $150,000 to help cover transportation costs from the State of Maryland. In the same month, Lynn’s own denomination, the United Church of Christ, received $100,000 to help defray the costs of the convention center hosting their convention.

Barry Lynn is simply being partisan and he’s using the separation of church and state as the means for his partisanship.
