People have been pointing to the “Memphis meltdown” as a turning point in the campaign. Maybe that’s true, but I didn’t see much wrong with Ford Jr. appearing at a press conference; Jr. has a habit of showing up at Republican functions, so that didn’t amount to a “meltdown.” This clip, however, does much to counter the image Jr. has been trying to cultivate as being above the political fray and respectful of people in both parties, and hurts his ability to continue courting religious conservatives. See video below the fold.
UPDATE: Ford Jr. apologizes.

Wow. I’m glad to be away from Tennessee politics. As ugly as it is here, we haven’t gotten the “God is on my side” argument yet.

Republicans don’t love the Lord because they won’t redistribute wealth by the power and threat of guns and jail? Huh. Or is it because we won’t kill babies? Or is it because we believe there IS a Lord and, somehow, that makes us not love him? I’m confused.

As a side…people are really turning out for early voting this time! I stood in line for close to 45 minutes today. (I think the Ford vs. Corker race is a big factor for this.)
