Poll of Memphians: Half don’t read blogs14 Mar 07

A Memphis Business Journal survey finds “Memphians hardly care for blogs.”

Memphis Business Journal asked its online readers last week if they liked blogging. Of the 106 respondents, 41 percent said they don’t waste their time reading blogs. 34 percent said they only read blogs on occasion.

However, 10 percent enjoy reading others’ blogs and 6 percent have their own blogs and post often. A surprising 9 percent don’t even know what a blog is.

Even more surprisingly, zero percent were unsure whether or not they read blogs. That’s progress!

Memphis Charter Commission10 Mar 07

Thaddeus Matthews has posted a Charter Commission news release:

Who: The Memphis Charter Commission

What: A News Conference

When: Monday, March 12th at 1pm

Where: The Hall of Mayors in City Hall, 125 North Main Street

Why: To announce the address of the Memphis Charter Commission website and upcoming public meetings in March and April

The website address was easy enough to find, being the very first one I tried: memphischartercommission.org was registered on March 9, and redirects to a section of the Memphis City website.

And here are those upcoming public meetings:

  • March 21, 2007, City Council Chambers, 125 N. Main, 6:00 p.m.
  • March 29, 2007, Hollywood Community Center, 1560 N. Hollywood, 6:00 p.m.
  • March 31, 2007, Central Library, 3030 Poplar Ave., 1:00 p.m.
  • April 18, 2007, Whitehaven Community Center, 4318 Graceland Dr., 6:00 p.m.

Sorry to spoil the surprise for you.

Tennesseans for Romney05 Mar 07

I got an email this morning from a blogger at http://nighseencreeder.blogspot.com/, announcing that he is supporting Mitt Romney for President in 2008. I had never heard of this blogger before, but he gets points for being the first to use my new fan-mail address.

I also see that two U.S. Reps from Tennessee are joining the Mitt Wagon: John Duncan and Marsha Blackburn.

I haven’t chosen a candidate yet, and I probably won’t for quite a while, but I’ve come up with some designs for the Romney campaign. The first is a seasonal, tongue-in-cheek idea, and the other is created with Bush Country in mind. Enjoy.

Open Congress04 Mar 07

Is this new? The Sunlight Foundation has an interesting project called OpenCongress.org. It tracks activity and sponsorship of bills, plus related news and blog links. I only know because I saw a trackback from this page.
