July 7, 1979 - December 7, 2006
Just a few weeks before he was killed by an IED while on patrol in Iraq, Micah wrote these words for his friends and family:
In case you are worried about my well being… don’t. I am proud to be a part of this fight. I signed up to do this for a reason and I hope that everyone understands why this fight continues to be important to every one of us… not just the Iraqi people.
Don’t pray that I come home soon.
Pray that the people that are causing us to stay out there can see the light and change their ways without harm coming to them first.

I really am not sure how I feel about this war…part of me believes that most Iraqi people really want help and just a small faction want us out…part of me thinks they’ve been fighting over there since Bible times so is there really any use in even trying…part of me thinks we should just blow them all off the face of the earth and be done with it…of course, I live in a news black out…except for what I read on your blog, Mick…(and to tell the truth, I don’t understand half of what I read here….) but ONE THING I AM SURE OF - THESE MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE FIGHTING THIS WAR ON BEHALF OF AMERICA SHOLD BE GIVEN RESPECT AND HONOR WHEN THEY COME HOME! THEY ARE DOING THE JOB THEY WERE SENT TO DO AND I HATE ALL THE NEGATIVE MEDIA ABOUT THESE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN!
