U.S. Unemployment Data28 Aug 07

While we’re doing graphs, here’s another chart I’ve been following. Since 2003, the unemployment rate has dropped steadily at a rate nearly identical to that during the Clinton years. The blue line at left (1992-2001) has simply been cloned in Photoshop and nudged right (that’s why the second line extends beyond the border).
UPDATE: Corrected the dates at top.

Mick, trends are important as well. Notice that Clinton reversed a good trend to a bad one and Bush took a bad one and reversed it into a good one. What you inherit and what you do with it is important. Looks to me like Clinton was bookended by two Bushes that got unemployment to drop. People blame Bush all day when the economy does poorly and then when it does well they either shut up or say, “the President really doesn’t have much impact on the economy anyway.” Which is it?
