There were people that were cynical in 1961 and there will always be. It is easy to criticize but tougher to create. JFK was trying to create a better , more unified country. He also had goals for the country, many of which were realized (i.e. space program) . Many were and still are cynical about the space program, while choosing to overlook the signifcant advances made and that contunue to be made in many fields (medicine, tech, materials) due to the space program. I’ll close with another quote “You can’t please everybody”.
